Mono Threads

Mono Threads

Mint mono threads are a great way to boost collagen, improve fine lines, tighten skin, and reduce crepiness. These threads are composed of PDO (polydioxanone) sutures, which have 30-year long safety track record for use in surgery. It is a safe raw material that is completely absorbed by the body. This minimally invasive procedure utilises your skin’s own collagen-stimulating potential with minimal trauma or tissue reaction. Mint is Australian TGA approved and backed by clinical studies in safety and efficacy. Prices start from $450 depending on area treated, and effects are long-lasting.

What to expect?

Downtime: Occasional bruising, mild swelling
Pain: Mild
Treatment time: 30-45 mins
Onset: Noticeable effect by 4 weeks with full effect by 3 months
Duration: Effects 12+ months

How do Mint mono threads work?

Insertion of multiple PDO threads creates a support network for the skin. The embedded threads are gradually resorbed over a period of 3 to 4 months via biological absorption or hydrolysis. This breakdown process stimulates collagen around the threads and continues to do so over the period the thread is degraded. A second treatment is generally recommended at 3 months, and effects can be expected to last over 12 months.

Procedure

Your practitioner will apply a topical anaesthetic cream prior to procedure, and sometimes will place nerve blocks for more comfort in sensitive areas. Threads are then inserted into the skin, using a tiny needle introducer, throughout the area of concern. Pain is generally minimal, and you can resume most activities following treatment.

What areas can be treated

  • Nasolabial folds
  • Marionette creases
  • Accordion lines
  • Lower face tightening
  • Jawline
  • Neck
  • Volumization in areas like temples or foreheads

Possible side effects

Bruising and minor swelling can be expected depending on the area and number of threads used.

You may occasionally notice minor lumps, which you can expect to resolve over a couple of weeks.

For full face treatments, some people may experience headaches or minor tenderness for a 1-2 days following. Paracetamol and/or ibuprofen can be used if required.
Very occasionally, you may notice a tiny portion of thread that has pushed out of the skin. This can be easily removed with clean hands and will not affect your result.

After your mono thread procedure:

  • Avoid make-up for 48 hours
  • You can wash your face with a gentle cleanser after 4-5 hours.
