Laser treatment for Benign Moles

Laser skincare

Medical-grade lasers are a safe and effective way to remove benign (non-cancerous) moles or skin tags with minimal scarring and downtime. Our doctors will assess your skin and remove the lesion of concern using our K-laser Blue Derma in a quick, relatively pain-free session.

Pricing varies depending on the size and number of lesions to be removed. Contact the clinic on (02) 4943 3232 for a more detailed quote and to book with one of our doctors.

What to expect?

  • Downtime: 1-2 weeks to completely heal
  • Pain: Minor discomfort. Local anaesthetic is used
  • Treatment time: 30mins

K-Laser Blue Derma

At Charlestown Cosmetic Medicine, we use the K-Laser Blue Derma for all of our laser treatments. The state-of-the-art laser technology utilises blue light, which offers several advantages over infra-red laser, including improved accuracy, minimal damage to surrounding areas, as well as anti-bacterial properties. The Blue Derma is a more precise and cosmetically-appealing way to remove moles. As it creates nearly no thermal damage to surrounding tissues, one can expect less inflammation, no post-treatment pain and reduced scarring (often no scarring at all!)

After the area is numbed with local anaesthetic, we use the laser to shave the mole or skin tag off flat with the skin. This removes both the contour and pigment deformity. Because the laser seals off blood vessels and the skin is not cut through, there is no need for stitches. One can expect the wound to be completely healed within 1-2 weeks, with further improvement in appearance over the following months. The site will be slightly pink for a few weeks before settling down to your normal skin colour.

The wound is generally only a shallow graze that is initially covered with ointment. Skin usually heals over in around one week. We recommend keeping it moisturised with a thick ointment (like QV intensive), 2-3 times per day, until it’s healed over.

Avoid make-up, swimming, and anything that can make the area dirty for 1 week.

Healing skin can be more vulnerable to pigmentation when exposed to the sun and we’d recommend avoiding direct sun exposure over the area for at least 4 weeks.

Use of daily Strataderm gel, once the wound has healed over, can further improve scarring if used in the months following treatment. You can buy this from most pharmacies.
